Who
E-commerce teams running Shopify stores who want auto-generated short-form videos for every new product
You get
Automatically produce and publish an 8-second 9:16 product video to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts when a product is added
You need
n8n · google-gemini · google-sheets · gmail

Constraints

Prerequisites: accessible n8n instance; Shopify store with Admin API access token; Google AI Studio billing enabled for Gemini and Veo 3.1; PostWire account and API key; Google Sheets document with columns date, product, network, status, link, note; Gmail account. Import the workflow JSON into n8n, then configure credentials and variables per node instructions.

What they did

postwire demonstrated in an n8n template a workflow that, when a new product is added to a Shopify store, automatically uses Gemini to analyze the product image and generate a Veo video prompt, then renders an 8-second 9:16 vertical video with Veo 3.1, publishes it via PostWire to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, logs results to Google Sheets, and sends a consolidated failure alert via Gmail.

How it went

The author reports this template automates the full pipeline described (author_report). No specific ROI or success-rate data was provided.

Worth knowing

Veo 3.1 requires billing enabled in Google AI Studio, costing approximately $1 per 8-second Fast clip. The free PostWire plan limits each post to 2 platforms; publishing to all 3 simultaneously requires an upgrade. The sheetName and documentId fields in workflow.json are empty and must be configured by the user. The store_url, email, and style values in Store settings are placeholders and must be replaced with real values.

n8n workflow template

Structure checked · Not run-tested

Use “Import from File” in n8n, or copy the JSON and paste it into the editor. Connect your own accounts, then try test data. The template is inactive by default.

Setup and test checklist

Credentials to connect

  • After import, connect your own credentials on auth-required nodes; author secrets are not included.

Configuration to replace

  • Source template is n8n public workflow #20720 (~18 nodes). Keep inactive after import; verify triggers, expressions and external API endpoints.
  • Sticky-note guidance is informational; replace placeholders with your own accounts, sheet schemas or channel IDs.

Test input and expected output

  • Manually run the main path once in a test workspace and confirm credentialed nodes authenticate without errors.
  • Drive one synthetic/redacted sample through and check output fields and downstream writes before enabling in production.

Template changes

  • Author credential bindings, webhookId and execution data are removed; the workflow is inactive. Nodes, connections and original prompts are preserved. Not run-tested in n8n.
  • No business-logic edits; verify keys, quotas and privacy compliance before use.

Steps

  1. Configure trigger and filters

After importing the template into n8n, configure the Shopify Trigger: select the products/create event and enter your Shopify access token. Then configure the Store settings node: set store_url, notification email, and visual style. The Active with a photo filter checks that the product status is active and an image exists; the Skip products already filmed deduplication node ensures each product is processed only once.

  2. Gemini image analysis and Veo video generation

The Look at the product photo node sends the product image URL, title, description (HTML stripped, truncated to 600 chars), and visual style to Gemini, requesting a JSON response with veo_prompt and selling_point. The Build the brief node parses that JSON and assembles the product name, price, and product URL. Then the Veo 3.1 render node uses the parsed veo_prompt to generate an 8-second 9:16 vertical video.

Execution prompt · Source text。Look at the product photo node text parameter (n8n expression)

    ={{ 'This is the photo of a product that was just added to an online store.\nName: ' + $('New product in Shopify').item.json.title + '\nDescription: ' + String($('New product in Shopify').item.json.body_html || '').replace(/<[^>]+>/g, ' ').replace(/\s+/g, ' ').slice(0, 600) + '\nVisual style: ' + $('Store settings').item.json.style + '\n\nReturn only JSON with two keys. veo_prompt: one paragraph for an 8-second vertical product video made with Veo: describe the product exactly as it looks in the photo (shape, colour, material), where it sits, one simple action or camera move, the light and the ambient sound; no on-screen text, no logos, no people. selling_point: one sentence a shopper would care about, using only facts from the name, the description and the photo.' }}
  3. Multi-platform publishing

The Post to TikTok, Reels and Shorts node (PostWire) receives the binary video data from Veo, uses smart mode to generate platform-specific captions, and publishes. The idempotencyKey prevents duplicate posts for the same product.

Execution prompt · Source text。Post to TikTok, Reels and Shorts node prompt parameter (n8n expression)

    ={{ (() => { const b = $('Build the brief').item.json; return 'New in the shop: ' + b.product + '. ' + (b.plan.selling_point || '') + (b.price ? ' Price: ' + b.price + '.' : '') + ' ' + b.product_url; })() }}
  4. Success logging

The Published? node checks the ok field from PostWire. If true, the Log the video node appends a row to Google Sheets with date, product, network, status=published, link, and note.

  5. Failure logging and email alert

If PostWire returns a failure, the Log the failure node records the failed status and error details to Sheets. The Collect the failures node aggregates all failures, and the Email me the fix node sends a consolidated email via Gmail to the address configured in Store settings, including product name, URL, per-platform errors, and hints.

You are assisting with reproducing an n8n workflow that auto-generates short videos from new Shopify products and distributes them to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. First confirm the user has: Shopify Admin API access token, Google Gemini API key with Veo 3.1 billing enabled, PostWire API key, Google Sheets document (six columns: date/product/network/status/link/note), and Gmail account. Then guide them to import the workflow JSON into n8n, configure credentials per node, and update store_url, email, and style in Store settings.

Before building, confirm Veo 3.1 billing is enabled in Google AI Studio (~$1 per 8-second Fast clip), and note that the free PostWire plan supports only 2 platforms per post.
