You get
Every morning at 8 AM, fetch latest articles, generate a 5–8 story plain-text digest via AI, and send to Telegram and Gmail simultaneously
You need
n8n · telegram · gmail

Constraints

Prerequisites: n8n instance (self-hosted or cloud); OpenAI API key with gpt-5-mini access; Telegram bot via @BotFather and target chat ID; Gmail OAuth credential. Costs depend on OpenAI token usage and n8n hosting.

What they did

Template author youthfireit built a scheduled n8n workflow that runs every morning at 8 AM, pulls articles from multiple RSS feeds, deduplicates, limits, trims fields, then uses GPT-5 Mini to generate a 5–8 story plain-text digest delivered simultaneously to Telegram and Gmail.

How it went

Published as n8n official template ID 17217 with complete node configurations and connections. Effect is author-reported (author_report): daily automated delivery, single Telegram message, plain-text format.

Worth knowing

1) This site has not tested the workflow; actual execution requires valid RSS feeds, available OpenAI quota, and correct credentials. 2) GPT-5 Mini availability depends on account and region. 3) Telegram node uses Markdown parse_mode, but the generation prompt explicitly forbids markdown symbols; actual rendering depends on the client. 4) RSS feed failures or non-standard formats may cause fetch issues; the template sets onError=continueRegularOutput so one failing feed does not stop the workflow. 5) The 3,500 character limit is a prompt-level agreement, not a Telegram API hard limit; longer content may be truncated.

n8n workflow template

Structure checked · Not run-tested

Use “Import from File” in n8n, or copy the JSON and paste it into the editor. Connect your own accounts, then try test data. The template is inactive by default.

Setup and test checklist

Credentials to connect

  • After import, connect your own credentials on auth-required nodes; author secrets are not included.

Configuration to replace

  • Source template is n8n public workflow #17217 (~17 nodes). Keep inactive after import; verify triggers, expressions and external API endpoints.
  • Sticky-note guidance is informational; replace placeholders with your own accounts, sheet schemas or channel IDs.

Test input and expected output

  • Manually run the main path once in a test workspace and confirm credentialed nodes authenticate without errors.
  • Drive one synthetic/redacted sample through and check output fields and downstream writes before enabling in production.

Template changes

  • Author credential bindings, webhookId and execution data are removed; the workflow is inactive. Nodes, connections and original prompts are preserved. Not run-tested in n8n.
  • No business-logic edits; verify keys, quotas and privacy compliance before use.

Steps

  1. Configure credentials and workflow variables

Add credentials in n8n: OpenAI (ensure gpt-5-mini is available), Telegram Bot, and Gmail. Then open the 'Set Digest Configuration' node and replace feedUrls with your RSS source array, digestTopic with your topic, emailTo with the recipient address, telegramChatId with the target chat ID (use @get_id_bot), and maxArticles with your desired article limit.

  2. Set schedule trigger and split RSS feeds

The 'When Daily Digest Scheduled' node is set to trigger daily at 8:00 AM. Verify the timezone matches your needs. After 'Set Digest Configuration' outputs settings, 'Split Feed URLs' splits the feedUrls array into individual items for downstream fetching.

  3. Fetch articles and filter

'Fetch Articles from RSS' uses the expression `={{ $json.feedUrl }}` to read each feed. The node continues on error (onError=continueRegularOutput). Then 'Deduplicate by Article Link' removes duplicates by the link field; 'Limit to Newest Articles' keeps the first maxArticles items; 'Prepare Article Snippets' extracts title, link, published, and snippet (first 300 characters).

  4. Aggregate articles and generate AI digest

'Aggregate Article List' combines cleaned articles into an `articles` array. Then the 'Create Daily Digest' AI Agent calls 'OpenAI GPT-5 Mini' to produce the digest.

Execution prompt · Source text。Create Daily Digest node text parameter (user message)

=Today is {{ $now.toFormat("cccc, MMMM d, yyyy") }}. Here are the latest articles as JSON:

    {{ JSON.stringify($json.articles) }}

Execution prompt · Source text。Create Daily Digest node options.systemMessage parameter

    =You are a sharp, concise newsletter editor writing a daily digest about {{ $('Set Digest Configuration').first().json.digestTopic }}.

From the articles provided, pick the 5-8 most important and interesting stories. Skip duplicates, ads and low-value items.

    Format rules:
    - Start with a single-sentence overview of the day.
    - Then list each story: an emoji, a short bold-free headline, a 1-2 sentence summary in plain language, and the link on its own line.
    - Plain text only: no HTML tags, no markdown symbols like *, _, # or [].
    - Keep the whole digest under 3,500 characters so it fits in one Telegram message.
    - End with one line: "That's all for today — see you tomorrow!"
  5. Send to Telegram and Gmail

'Post Digest to Telegram' sends the digest text to the configured chatId with web page preview disabled. 'Send Digest via Gmail' emails the same plain-text digest to emailTo with a subject line that includes the current date.

Prompt you can copy

Setup guidance · Editorial suggestion。Hand off to setup assistant; confirm inputs and permissions first

This block is the prompt. Ads are never placed here.

You are an n8n workflow setup assistant. The user wants to recreate the 'Daily RSS AI Digest to Telegram + Gmail' template. First confirm they have: an n8n instance, OpenAI credentials (gpt-5-mini supported), a Telegram bot with chat ID, and Gmail credentials. Then guide them to import workflow.json or build manually, focusing on replacing variables in 'Set Digest Configuration' and binding credentials. Do not perform sends on behalf of the user.

Confirm all four credentials are ready and replace example variables before building.
