- You get
- Auto-draft ~500-word SEO blog posts based on Google search trends and save them to Google Sheets
- You need
- n8n · google-sheets · serpapi
Constraints
Prerequisites: n8n instance; Google Sheets OAuth2 credentials; OpenAI API key; SerpAPI key. The workflow relies on the author's custom API deployed on Render free tier (https://seo-api2.onrender.com/get-seo-data), which may cold-start with 10–30s delay.
What they did
Author keisha created an n8n workflow template: triggered by new Google Sheets rows, reads unfinished blog topics, calls a custom Render API for Google Autocomplete suggestions and SerpAPI for People Also Ask questions in parallel, merges and cleans the data, then sends it to GPT-4o to generate ~500-word SEO blog drafts, finally writing back to the sheet and marking status done.
How it went
Published as a template on n8n.io; author reports generating SEO-optimized blog posts in seconds (author_report). This site has not tested it; actual generation quality and Render API stability are unverified.
Worth knowing
1. The custom Autocomplete API is hosted on Render free tier and sleeps after ~15 min of inactivity; first request may take 10–30s to wake. 2. SerpAPI charges per call; frequent runs incur costs. 3. The GPT-4o prompt leaves audience blank and must be filled manually or output will lack targeting. 4. The template filters out rows where Status='done'; remove this condition to process all rows. 5. workflow.json is provided for direct import into n8n.

Setup and test checklist
Credentials to connect
- Google Sheets Trigger node: connect Google Sheets Trigger OAuth2 credentials.
- Read Rows node: connect Google Sheets OAuth2 credentials.
- GPT-4 node: connect OpenAI API credentials.
- Export node: connect Google Sheets OAuth2 credentials.
Configuration to replace
- Source template is n8n public workflow #6283 (~21 nodes). Keep inactive after import; verify triggers, expressions and external API endpoints.
- Sticky-note guidance is informational; replace placeholders with your own accounts, sheet schemas or channel IDs.
Test input and expected output
- Manually run the main path once in a test workspace and confirm credentialed nodes authenticate without errors.
- Drive one synthetic/redacted sample through and check output fields and downstream writes before enabling in production.
Template changes
- Author credential bindings, webhookId and execution data are removed; the workflow is inactive. Nodes, connections and original prompts are preserved. Not run-tested in n8n.
- No business-logic edits; verify keys, quotas and privacy compliance before use.

Steps
Prepare spreadsheet and trigger
Create a Google Sheet with three columns: Blog Inspiration, Status, Blog Draft. Set trigger to 'row added' or run manually. Complete n8n Google Sheets OAuth2 authorization before first run.
Collect search data in parallel
The workflow reads rows where Status is empty, extracts topic keywords, then runs in parallel: 1) POST to https://seo-api2.onrender.com/get-seo-data for Google Autocomplete suggestions; 2) SerpAPI HTTP Request for People Also Ask questions. Both datasets merge in the Merge node, are cleaned by a Code node, and proceed.
GPT-4o generates blog draft
The Loop Over Items node processes entries one by one. The AI Agent node calls GPT-4o using the source-provided full prompt to generate ~500-word blog posts. Replace the audience placeholder in the prompt with your actual target readers.
Execution prompt · Source text。Generate Blog Post (AI Agent) node text parameter
=Write a blog post based on the following topic: {{ $json.topic }} Your audience is ___. The tone should feel warm, personal, emotionally resonant, and elegant. Use the following to guide the content: Autocomplete keywords: {{ $json.autocomplete }} Weave these naturally into the blog — not as a list. Use them to inspire talking points, not as SEO stuffing. People Also Ask questions, Organic Results, or Related Searches: {{ $json.paa }} Reference or gently answer these questions where they align with the topic. Content Guidelines: Generate a warm, SEO-optimized blog title that includes relevant keywords and reflects the post’s focus. Do not use clickbait or vague titles. Start with a warm, seasonal, or situational hook Offer client-relevant insights (e.g., wardrobe planning, session timing, location ideas, lifestyle reflections) Use clear, specific language — avoid filler, clichés, metaphors, or flowery phrasing Avoid headings unless they add structure Keep it narrative and around 500 words End with a gentle call-to-action (e.g., inviting readers to reach out with outfit questions, booking ideas, or planning support)Export to sheet and mark done
The generated output is written to the Blog Draft column, Status is updated to done, and written back via the Google Sheets node. Loop Over Items continues until all entries are processed.
