Daily AI News Digest to LinkedIn Posts
RSS feeds → n8n scheduled trigger → code filter → OpenAI summary & copy → Gmail review
- Who
- Operators or founders who want to auto-curate AI news into LinkedIn content
- You get
- A daily email with a LinkedIn post ready for your review
Constraints
Import the template into n8n, configure an OpenAI API key and Gmail OAuth2 credentials, set your recipient email, and adjust RSS sources or models as needed. The workflow triggers daily, reads multiple RSS feeds, filters AI-related articles from the last 48 hours with JavaScript and deduplicates them, then sends them to OpenAI for summarization and LinkedIn post generation, and finally emails the result via Gmail for review. If no articles match, a no-news notification is sent instead.
What they did
Template author itechnotion created an n8n workflow that triggers daily to fetch articles from VentureBeat, TechCrunch AI, and OpenAI Blog RSS feeds, filters AI-related content from the last 48 hours with JavaScript and deduplicates it, then uses two OpenAI nodes to first generate an industry summary and then a LinkedIn-style post, and finally emails the result via Gmail for user review.
How it went
The author reports this template can be used for daily automated content production, reducing manual browsing and writing time (author_report). The template is published on n8n.io with view counts indicating some adoption.
Worth knowing
The template filters 48 hours of articles by default, which differs from the 'last 24 hrs' mentioned in the description—adjust the code time window if you need a narrower range. Both OpenAI nodes default to gpt-4.1-mini; you may switch to gpt-4.1 or gpt-4 for higher quality. RSS URLs are hardcoded defaults and should be checked for availability. The Gmail node requires OAuth2 authorization, not a simple password. This site has not imported or run the workflow; test the full chain with sample data before relying on it.

Setup and test checklist
Credentials to connect
- AI News Summarizer1 node: connect OpenAI API credentials.
- Generate LinkedIn Post1 node: connect OpenAI API credentials.
- Send for Review1 node: connect Gmail OAuth2 credentials.
- No Articles Notification1 node: connect Gmail OAuth2 credentials.
Configuration to replace
- Source template is n8n public workflow #5068 (~15 nodes). Keep inactive after import; verify triggers, expressions and external API endpoints.
- Sticky-note guidance is informational; replace placeholders with your own accounts, sheet schemas or channel IDs.
Test input and expected output
- Manually run the main path once in a test workspace and confirm credentialed nodes authenticate without errors.
- Drive one synthetic/redacted sample through and check output fields and downstream writes before enabling in production.
Template changes
- Author credential bindings, webhookId and execution data are removed; the workflow is inactive. Nodes, connections and original prompts are preserved. Not run-tested in n8n.
- No business-logic edits; verify keys, quotas and privacy compliance before use.

Steps
Configure schedule trigger
Add or import a Schedule Trigger node in n8n and set it to run every 24 hours. This node serves as the time-based entry point for the entire automation.
Add RSS feed sources
Configure three RSS Feed Read nodes for VentureBeat AI, TechCrunch AI, and OpenAI Blog. Default URLs are provided in the template; replace them with other AI-related sources if desired.
Merge and filter articles
Use a Merge node to combine the three RSS outputs, then pass them through a Code node running JavaScript: filter for articles published within the last 48 hours whose title or description contains AI keywords, deduplicate by link or title, sort by date, and keep up to 10.
Execution prompt · Source text。JS Code field of the 'Filter Recent AI Articles1' node
// Filter articles from last 48 hours and relevant to AI const now = new Date(); const twoDaysAgo = new Date(now.getTime() - (48 * 60 * 60 * 1000)); // Create a Set to track unique articles (by title or link) const uniqueArticles = new Map(); items.forEach(item => { const articleDate = new Date(item.json.pubDate || item.json.date); const isRecent = articleDate >= twoDaysAgo; const title = (item.json.title || '').toLowerCase(); const description = (item.json.description || '').toLowerCase(); const aiKeywords = ['ai', 'artificial intelligence', 'machine learning', 'ml', 'neural', 'gpt', 'llm', 'chatbot', 'automation', 'deep learning', 'agentic ai']; const isAIRelated = aiKeywords.some(keyword => title.includes(keyword) || description.includes(keyword) ); // Only add if recent, AI-related, and not already added if (isRecent && isAIRelated) { const uniqueKey = item.json.link || item.json.title; if (!uniqueArticles.has(uniqueKey)) { uniqueArticles.set(uniqueKey, { title: item.json.title, description: item.json.description, link: item.json.link, pubDate: item.json.pubDate || item.json.date, source: item.json.source || 'RSS Feed', dateObj: articleDate // Keep for sorting }); } } }); // Convert Map to array, sort by date (newest first) and limit to top 10 const sortedItems = Array.from(uniqueArticles.values()) .sort((a, b) => b.dateObj - a.dateObj) .slice(0, 10); // Return formatted items without dateObj return sortedItems.map(item => ({ json: { title: item.title, description: item.description, link: item.link, pubDate: item.pubDate, source: item.source } }));Prepare articles and check existence
Use a Code node to format filtered articles into a single string with title, description, source, date, and link. Then use an If node to check whether articleCount is greater than 0 to determine the downstream path.
Execution prompt · Source text。JS Code field of the 'Prepare Articles for Summary1' node
// Combine all articles into a single string for summarization const articles = items.map(item => { return `Title: ${item.json.title}\nDescription: ${item.json.description}\nSource: ${item.json.source}\nDate: ${item.json.pubDate}\nLink: ${item.json.link}\n---`; }).join('\n\n'); return [{ json: { articles: articles, articleCount: items.length, processedAt: new Date().toISOString() } }];Generate AI summary
Feed the prepared article text into an OpenAI node (default gpt-4.1-mini) using a system prompt that instructs the model to analyze multiple AI news articles, extract the 2-3 most important developments, and write an 80-120 word summary suited for LinkedIn professionals.

Please build this workflow in n8n using the following materials: first confirm you have an OpenAI API key and Gmail OAuth2 credentials, then import the template or create nodes manually. Key checks: RSS source URLs, the time window and keywords in the filter code, model selection in both OpenAI nodes, and the recipient address in the Gmail node. Run a manual execution with sample data to verify filtering, summarization, and post generation before enabling the schedule trigger.
You need an OpenAI API key and Gmail OAuth2 authorization before starting; run a manual test first.
