Telegram Article to LinkedIn Post Auto-Generator: n8n + GPT-4 + Google Sheets Template

Input article link via Telegram → AI extracts summary & insights → Store in Google Sheets → Type 'generate' to create LinkedIn post → Receive back in Telegram

Some experienceStepsWorkflowPromptTip
Who
Content creators, marketers, and founders who want consistent LinkedIn output without manually analyzing articles or drafting posts
You get
Collect article links through a Telegram bot, auto-analyze and summarize with AI into Google Sheets; type 'generate' on demand to receive a LinkedIn-style post back in Telegram
You need
n8n · telegram · google-sheets

Constraints

Requires an n8n instance (self-hosted or cloud); Telegram Bot API token; OpenAI API key; Google Sheets OAuth2 authorization; Google Sheets must have columns Date, Title, Link, Summary, Insights Commentary. Default model is gpt-4.1-mini, swappable to gpt-4o, gpt-4o-mini, etc. in the node.

What they did

dilldawn published this workflow template on the n8n official template library. The template demonstrates a dual-branch automation: when users send an article link via Telegram bot, the workflow triggers an AI Agent (Content collector) to analyze the article, extract title, link, summary, and insight commentary, parse them via regex (Edit Fields), store in Google Sheets, and echo the summary back to Telegram; when users send 'generate', a second branch triggers an AI Agent (Generate LinkedIn Post) to read the latest article data from Google Sheets and produce a LinkedIn-style post returned to Telegram. The template defaults to gpt-4.1-mini with support for switching to other OpenAI models.

How it went

Author reports (author_report) the template suits creators, marketers, and founders, enabling a full content pipeline from phone via Telegram. The template has 711 views on n8n.io. This site has not tested import or execution; actual AI output quality and Google Sheets write stability remain unverified.

Worth knowing

1. Prompt residue: Both Content collector and Generate LinkedIn Post systemMessages mention 'Airtable' and 'Demandbox' brand names, but actual data flows to Google Sheets; users must replace these examples or AI may cite the wrong brand. 2. Deduplication: Content collector's LIMITATIONS state it should reply 'You already shared this with me...' for duplicates, but this relies on AI self-judgment without hard validation against Google Sheets. 3. Selection logic: Generate LinkedIn Post defaults to the latest article, but template notes suggest customizing to random, oldest-first, or specific tone; actual implementation requires user adjustment of Get row(s) in sheet query parameters. 4. Model costs: Default gpt-4.1-mini is low-cost; switching to gpt-4o or gpt-4 increases token consumption and API fees. 5. Privacy: Telegram message content passes through OpenAI API; avoid sending sensitive links.

Structure checked · Not run-tested

Use “Import from File” in n8n, or copy the JSON and paste it into the editor. Connect your own accounts, then try test data. The template is inactive by default.

Setup and test checklist

Credentials to connect

  • Telegram Trigger node: connect Telegram API credentials.
  • Send a text message node: connect Telegram API credentials.
  • Append row in sheet node: connect Google Sheets OAuth2 credentials.
  • Get row(s) in sheet in Google Sheets node: connect Google Sheets OAuth2 credentials.
  • The post node: connect Telegram API credentials.
  • OpenAI Chat Model node: connect OpenAI API credentials.
  • OpenAI Chat Model1 node: connect OpenAI API credentials.

Configuration to replace

  • Source template is n8n public workflow #11279 (~18 nodes). Keep inactive after import; verify triggers, expressions and external API endpoints.
  • Sticky-note guidance is informational; replace placeholders with your own accounts, sheet schemas or channel IDs.

Test input and expected output

  • Manually run the main path once in a test workspace and confirm credentialed nodes authenticate without errors.
  • Drive one synthetic/redacted sample through and check output fields and downstream writes before enabling in production.

Template changes

  • Author credential bindings, webhookId and execution data are removed; the workflow is inactive. Nodes, connections and original prompts are preserved. Not run-tested in n8n.
  • No business-logic edits; verify keys, quotas and privacy compliance before use.

Steps

  1. Create a Telegram bot and obtain the token

Search for @BotFather in Telegram, follow prompts to create a new bot, and copy the API token. In n8n, open the Telegram Trigger node, select or create a telegramApi credential, and paste the token. Ensure the bot has permission to receive messages.

  2. Configure OpenAI and Google Sheets credentials

In n8n Credentials, add: OpenAI API key (openAiApi); Google Sheets OAuth2 (googleSheetsOAuth2Api), completing Google account authorization. In the AI Agent nodes (Content collector, Generate LinkedIn Post), select the configured OpenAI Chat Model under the Language Model connection.

  3. Prepare Google Sheets and confirm column structure

Create or open a Google Sheet with columns: Date, Title, Link, Summary, Insights Commentary. In the Append row in sheet node, select the authorized Google account and specify documentId and sheetName. The template assumes these columns exist; customize as needed.

  4. Import the workflow and verify node connections

Import the workflow from the n8n template library (or paste the workflow JSON). Verify the main branch: Telegram Trigger → article or generate? (IF split) → Set Field → Content collector → Edit Fields → Clean Code → Append row in sheet → Send a text message. The 'generate' branch: If generate → Generate LinkedIn Post → The post. Confirm OpenAI Chat Model is connected to both AI Agent nodes' ai_languageModel ports; Get row(s) in sheet in Google Sheets is connected to Generate LinkedIn Post's ai_tool port.

  5. Customize AI prompts (critical: replace brand and style)

Open the Content collector node's options.systemMessage and replace 'Demandbox' examples with your own brand or identity, adjusting ROLE, CAPABILITIES, and INPUT HANDLING domain keywords (currently focused on AI automations, operations, technology). Open the Generate LinkedIn Post node's options.systemMessage, likewise replace 'Demandbox' examples, and adjust voice, length, CTA, and hashtags to match your personal style. The user prompts for both nodes can remain default or be modified as needed.

  6. Test the article collection branch

Send an article link (containing https://) to your bot in Telegram. Observe the n8n execution: Telegram Trigger → article or generate? (matches https:// branch) → Content collector calls AI analysis → Edit Fields regex-extracts Title/Link/Summary/Insight & Commentary → Clean Code → Append row in sheet writes to Google Sheets → Send a text message returns the Summary to Telegram. Verify a new row appears correctly in Google Sheets.

  7. Test the 'generate' command for LinkedIn post creation

Send the text 'generate' to your bot in Telegram. Observe the workflow path: Telegram Trigger → article or generate? (does not match https://, enters second branch) → If generate (matches 'generate') → Generate LinkedIn Post calls AI, combining data from Get row(s) in sheet to produce a post → The post returns the result to Telegram. Confirm the received post format meets expectations and can be copied to LinkedIn.

You are setting up an n8n workflow that collects article links via Telegram, analyzes and summarizes them with AI into Google Sheets, then generates LinkedIn posts on demand. First confirm you have: access to an n8n instance, a Telegram Bot token, an OpenAI API key, and Google Sheets OAuth2 authorization. Then follow the steps to verify node connections, paying special attention to replacing 'Demandbox' brand examples in both AI Agent nodes with your own identity and style.

After setup, test with a real article link first, then test 'generate'. If AI output does not match expectations, prioritize checking the style definitions and example outputs in systemMessage.
