n8n Auto-Enhance Product Photos into Luxury Ad Backgrounds
Google Drive transparent product images → AI-generated background prompt → Pixelcut API composes professional background → save enhanced images back to Drive
- Who
- E-commerce operators, product photographers, and marketing teams who need to quickly convert bulk product images into professional ad backgrounds
- You get
- Automatically generate AI backgrounds for transparent product images and save them, reducing manual editing and studio shoot costs
- You need
- n8n · google-drive · ai-agent · http-request · openai
Constraints
Prerequisites: n8n instance (cloud or self-hosted), Google Drive OAuth2 credentials, Pixelcut.ai API Key, product images recommended as PNG with transparent backgrounds. Optional: OpenAI/Claude/Groq Vision API for auto-generated background prompts. Costs: Pixelcut.ai and AI API billed per their platforms; n8n billed per instance plan.
What they did
Author ARRE published an n8n official template that fetches PNG product images from Google Drive in bulk, optionally generates background prompts via an AI Agent, calls the Pixelcut.ai API to composite professional backgrounds, and saves enhanced images back to Google Drive. The template includes complete node configurations, sticky note guidance, and workflow JSON.
How it went
The template shows 3,278 views on the n8n platform (author_report). The author claims it can process images in batch and reduce manual editing time, but no specific processing duration or success rate data is provided.
Worth knowing
1) The AI Prompt Generator node is optional; the template defaults to connecting an OpenAI Chat Model (gpt-4.1-mini), but the sticky note warns of limitations and suggests using GPT-4 Vision/Claude Vision or manual prompts instead. 2) This workflow expects input images without backgrounds; if your images have backgrounds, add a pre-processing step using Pixelcut's remove-background API or another background removal service. 3) The Pixelcut node defaults to PNG output; change the format parameter in bodyParameters to jpg or webp if needed. 4) This site has not tested the workflow (reproduction=not_tested); test with a single image and monitor API costs before production use.

Setup and test checklist
Credentials to connect
- Replace __UKH_BEARER_4__ with your real secret/token (path /nodes/4/parameters/headerParameters/parameters/0/value; literal auth header).
Configuration to replace
- Source template is n8n public workflow #6151 (~11 nodes). Keep inactive after import; verify triggers, expressions and external API endpoints.
- Sticky-note guidance is informational; replace placeholders with your own accounts, sheet schemas or channel IDs.
Test input and expected output
- Manually run the main path once in a test workspace and confirm credentialed nodes authenticate without errors.
- Drive one synthetic/redacted sample through and check output fields and downstream writes before enabling in production.
Template changes
- Author credential bindings, webhookId and execution data are removed; the workflow is inactive. Nodes, connections and original prompts are preserved. Not run-tested in n8n.
- No business-logic edits; verify keys, quotas and privacy compliance before use. 1 literal secret value(s) replaced with __UKH_…__ placeholders.

Steps
Configure credentials and folders
Set up Google Drive OAuth2 credentials in n8n; create a Pixelcut.ai account and obtain an API Key; prepare a source folder (for PNG product images) and an output folder in Google Drive. Replace YOUR_GOOGLE_DRIVE_FOLDER_ID, YOUR_OUTPUT_FOLDER_ID, and YOUR_PIXELCUT_API_KEY in the template with actual values. Test with a single image first.

## 📋 Setup Checklist **Required Credentials**: □ Google Drive OAuth2 API □ Pixelcut.ai API Key □ Vision AI API (if using AI prompts) any AI Accepts images **Folder Configuration**: □ Replace YOUR_GOOGLE_DRIVE_FOLDER_ID □ Replace YOUR_OUTPUT_FOLDER_ID □ Ensure proper folder permissions **Security Notes**: □ Never share API keys publicly □ Use environment variables for sensitive data □ Regularly rotate API keys □ Monitor API usage and costs **Testing Steps**: 1. Test with single image first 2. Verify output quality 3. Check file naming convention 4. Confirm folder permissions 5. Monitor API rate limits
Fetch product images from Google Drive
Use the Google Drive node to search for PNG files in the specified folder. Node parameters: resource=fileFolder, returnAll=true, queryString='.png'. To support multiple formats, change queryString to "mimeType='image/png' or mimeType='image/jpeg'" (editorial suggestion; test before production use).

## ⚠️ File Format Warning **Current Limitation**: This workflow only processes PNG files **To Support Other Formats**: 1. Go to "Get Images from Google Drive" node 2. Change queryString from : - ".jpg" for JPEG files - ".webp" for WebP files ➡️ to : ".png" **Output Format**: Change the "format" parameter in Pixelcut node: - "png" - Best quality, transparency support - "jpg" - Smaller file size - "webp" - Modern format, good compression **Multiple Formats**: Use OR operator: "mimeType='image/png' or mimeType='image/jpeg'"
Use the Google Drive download node (operation=download) to convert the retrieved files into binary data, with binaryPropertyName set to imageData for the Pixelcut node. Use expression {{ $json.id }} for fileId to reference the previous node's output.
Optional: AI-generated background prompt
To auto-generate prompts, enable the AI Agent node and connect a vision-capable model (e.g., OpenAI GPT-4 Vision, Claude Vision). This node is optional; you can also skip it and write a fixed prompt directly in the Pixelcut node.

## 🤖 AI Agent Notes (Optional) **Purpose**: Generates background prompts automatically **How to Use**: 1. This node is OPTIONAL - you can skip it entirely 2. If using, connect a vision-capable AI model 3. Alternative: Write your own prompt directly in the Pixelcut node **⚠️ Important Limitations**: - Use OpenAI GPT-4 Vision or Claude Vision instead - Or simply disable this node and use manual prompts **Better Options**: - OpenAI GPT-4 Vision Preview - Anthropic Claude Vision - Google Gemini Vision - Manual prompt creation
Pixelcut API generates professional background
Use the HTTP Request node to call the Pixelcut.ai API. Configuration: POST https://api.developer.pixelcut.ai/v1/generate-background, header with X-API-KEY, body as multipart/form-data containing image (formBinaryData, inputDataFieldName=imageData), prompt, and format. Default prompt is "Professional studio background with soft lighting, clean surfaces, and elegant atmosphere"; replace with AI-generated or custom prompt as needed.

## 🎨 Pixelcut.ai Configuration **Required Setup**: 1. Get API key from pixelcut.ai 2. Replace YOUR_PIXELCUT_API_KEY with your actual key 3. Customize the prompt field for your desired background **Supported Formats**: - PNG (recommended for products) - JPG (smaller file size) - WEBP (modern format)
Save enhanced image back to Google Drive
Use the Google Drive node to upload the enhanced image from Pixelcut to the output folder. Set filename to enhanced-{{ $('Get Images from Google Drive').item.json.name }} and folderId to YOUR_OUTPUT_FOLDER_ID. After successful upload, verify the file with the enhanced- prefix in Drive.

This block is the prompt. Ads are never placed here.
You are reproducing the n8n template "Make every product photo look like a luxury ad". First confirm: 1) n8n instance is available; 2) Google Drive OAuth2 and Pixelcut.ai API Key are obtained; 3) source/output folder IDs are replaced; 4) if using AI prompts, Vision-capable model credentials are configured. After importing workflow.json, verify node parameters, especially YOUR_* placeholders. Test with a single PNG first, then run in batch after confirming output quality.
