Constraints

Build using the n8n template. Prerequisites: accessible n8n instance, Zoom Developer Console access, Google OAuth credentials, Slack OAuth credentials, OpenAI API key. Costs depend on actual usage of each service.

What they did

Author dae221 created this template on n8n, configuring a Zoom webhook trigger, a Code node for data normalization, an OpenAI GPT-4 node for summary generation, a Google Docs node for document storage, and a Slack node for notifications.

How it went

The source shows expected outputs: a Slack message with meeting topic, host, duration, and a Google Doc link; the Google Doc includes Executive Summary, Key Decisions, Action Items, Next Steps, and Full Transcript. (author_report; not tested by this site)

Worth knowing

Zoom transcript availability depends on whether recording and transcription are enabled on your Zoom account; the source does not disclose the GPT-4 node's prompt, temperature, or max_tokens, so you must supply these during setup; this site has not performed end-to-end verification.

n8n workflow template

Structure checked · Not run-tested

Use “Import from File” in n8n, or copy the JSON and paste it into the editor. Connect your own accounts, then try test data. The template is inactive by default.

Setup and test checklist

Credentials to connect

  • After import, connect your own credentials on auth-required nodes; author secrets are not included.

Configuration to replace

  • Source template is n8n public workflow #8057 (~6 nodes). Keep inactive after import; verify triggers, expressions and external API endpoints.
  • Sticky-note guidance is informational; replace placeholders with your own accounts, sheet schemas or channel IDs.

Test input and expected output

  • Manually run the main path once in a test workspace and confirm credentialed nodes authenticate without errors.
  • Drive one synthetic/redacted sample through and check output fields and downstream writes before enabling in production.

Template changes

  • Author credential bindings, webhookId and execution data are removed; the workflow is inactive. Nodes, connections and original prompts are preserved. Not run-tested in n8n.
  • No business-logic edits; verify keys, quotas and privacy compliance before use.

Steps

  1. Configure Zoom App

    Create an App in the Zoom Developer Console, enable the meeting.ended event subscription, and paste the n8n Webhook node URL (path: zoom-meeting-ended) into Zoom's event notification endpoint.

  2. Connect Google Docs

    Add Google OAuth credentials in n8n and authorize Google Docs and Google Drive access. The Save to Google Docs node will automatically save documents to your Google Drive.

  3. Connect Slack

    Add Slack OAuth credentials in n8n, and replace the channel in the Post to Slack node with your actual channel (e.g., #team-meetings).

  4. Configure OpenAI

    Add your OpenAI API key credentials in n8n. The Generate AI Notes node uses GPT-4; the source does not show the specific system/user prompt or temperature, so you will need to supply these during setup.

  5. Run the workflow

    When a Zoom meeting ends and fires the meeting.ended event, the workflow runs automatically: 1) Webhook receives the event; 2) Code node normalizes the Zoom payload into fields like meeting_id, topic, host, duration, transcript; 3) OpenAI GPT-4 node generates a summary; 4) Google Docs node creates a document (title includes topic and timestamp); 5) Slack node sends a summary with the document link.

Prompt you can copy

Setup guidance · Editorial suggestion。Hand to setup assistant; confirm inputs and permissions first

This block is the prompt. Ads are never placed here.

You are setting up n8n template 8057 for an automated meeting-notes workflow: Zoom → GPT-4 → Google Docs → Slack. First confirm these inputs and permissions:
1) n8n instance access; 2) Zoom Developer Console access to create an App; 3) Google OAuth credentials; 4) Slack OAuth credentials; 5) OpenAI API key.

Recommended setup order:
- Configure the Zoom Webhook first (path: zoom-meeting-ended, POST), then subscribe to meeting.ended in the Zoom App;
- Connect Google Docs, Slack, and OpenAI credentials;
- Verify the Normalize Data field mapping matches your Zoom payload;
- Add a system prompt and output format in the Generate AI Notes node (not provided by the source; design your own);
- Run an end-to-end test with a real or test meeting.

Confirm all five credentials are ready before building; Zoom transcript availability depends on account level.
