Steps

  1. Confirm Grok Bot push in X Chat

    Update X mobile or desktop to the latest version. Open X and tap the bottom navigation item "Chat". Check if your created bot names appear in the list; their presence means the push has reached you. The one marked with ⭐ is your main bot. If they don't appear, the rollout hasn't reached you yet—check again later.

  2. Connect X account to enable data access

    If you want the bot to read your X DMs, bookmarks, and home timeline, authorize your X account in Grok Bot first. You can still chat without this connection, but the bot won't be able to access the above X data. Follow the actual authorization flow inside Grok Bot.

  3. Enter encrypted chat PIN on first use

    The first time you let a bot read encrypted X chat content, a secure input prompt may appear asking for your chat PIN. Enter it only in the popup input field; never send the PIN as a chat message.

  4. Filter to direct chats only (temporary view)

    If too many bots clutter the list, tap "All" at the top right of the chat list and switch to "Direct". The list will then show only one-on-one chats with real people, hiding bot conversations. This is only a view switch; no conversations are deleted or modified. Switch back to "All" to see bots again.

  5. Archive or hide a bot (bidirectional sync)

    In X Chat, swipe or long-press a bot conversation and choose "Archive" or "Hide". This syncs to Grok Bot: a bot archived/hidden in X Chat will also be archived/hidden in Grok Bot, and vice versa. Confirm before acting—this is not X-only.

  6. Mute a bot (X Chat only)

    Open a bot conversation's settings in X Chat and enable "Mute". This setting only affects notifications in X Chat; it does not sync to Grok Bot or change the bot's state there. Useful when you only want quiet on the X side.

  7. Pin a bot (bidirectional sync)

    Pin frequently used bots in Grok Bot; that pinned state syncs to X Chat and keeps them at the top of the list. X Chat does not support pinning bots directly; do this from the Grok Bot side.
