Voice-Tasking with Grok Bot: Read-Only Email + One-Approval-per-Action
Speak a task aloud → Grok Bot reads email and executes comparison/research → every output awaits your individual approval before sending
- Who
- Users with Grok Bot access who want to reduce time spent on small daily errands
- You get
- Turn 'I'll look into it later' tasks into a single spoken sentence; the Bot reads information and generates drafts/comparisons/plans, all held for your approval before anything goes out
- You need
- Grok Bot
Constraints
Requires Grok Bot access. Recommended starting point: grant read-only email access only, with a strict rule that any send, edit, or delete requires your one-time approval for that specific action. The author did not specify subscription tier or exact OAuth flow.
What they did
@RelentlessTRP spent several nights dictating tasks to a Grok Bot running on its own computer. Tasks included: comparing door trim and ceiling fan prices across Home Depot, Lowe's, and Menards; auditing ~$122/month in subscriptions (cancel Netflix, keep Claude); prompting Claude to produce a 24-page handoff document about him and downloading all 779 Claude chats into a 64-page archive summary; cataloging 195 Suno songs into a 508-page PDF with 12 planned albums; researching custom inflatable factories and drafting a pitch to Menards. All outgoing content was held for his approval.
How it went
The author reports the Bot dramatically shrank the distance from 'I wonder if' to a finished draft. Clear limits emerged: X blocked the Bot from logging in to post; fan shopping required two rounds of clarified instructions before the Bot found the right low-profile style; the Bot invented 'longtime customer' in a draft email, then caught and flagged its own fabrication. The 508-page PDF remained a catalog, not an album; the Menards pitch was never sent; most outputs stayed as drafts.
Worth knowing
X platform blocks automated browser logins, so the Bot cannot post on your behalf; voice-to-text may mishear 'Grok Bot' as 'crockpot'; the Bot will fill information gaps with plausible-sounding but unverified details, requiring human review; the author did not disclose Grok Bot subscription cost or exact email OAuth setup steps; this site has not tested this workflow — reproduction status is not_tested.
Steps
Set the permission contract: read-only email + one-approval-per-action
In Grok Bot's permission settings, grant only read access to your email. Establish the rule: the Bot may read mail to compare prices or find information, but it never sends, edits, or deletes anything without your explicit, one-time OK for that specific item. The author also authorized logins to Grok, Claude, and a personal email account on the Bot's own machine, handling verification codes and a captcha himself.
Voice-task and approve item by item
Dictate a small job to Grok Bot (e.g., compare door trim prices, audit subscriptions, catalog music). The Bot reads your email and other sources, then generates a draft or research result. Review each output individually and approve before anything is sent. Author examples: when fan shopping, he had to push back twice with refined requirements before the Bot narrowed to fabric drum fan lights with hidden blades; the Bot drafted an email adding 'longtime customer' without being told, then flagged its own invention for removal.

No prompt needed — just follow the steps.
The reusable core is the permission strategy: read-only first, one approval per action.
