Grok Bot

Constraints

Prerequisites: a Cursor account and completed Grok Bot desktop setup (Bot creation, approval rules, safety guardrails). Requires iOS 18 / iPadOS 18 or Android 9+, installed from the App Store or Google Play. SuperGrok subscribers must link their Grok account. Note: if Grok Bot desktop is running on your computer, notifications go to the desktop, not your phone.

What they did

Daniel.S (@ai_goge) published Grok Bot series 1-10, covering mobile installation, login, interface features, sync with desktop, what the phone is good for (voice tasks, approvals, result checks, sharing content), and what it cannot do (recording tutorials, editing/testing routines, some advanced settings), plus a recommended desktop/mobile workflow split.

How it went

The author reports that phone and desktop share the same Bot and cloud computer, enabling voice task assignment, approvals, and routine result checks on the go. iPhone supports sharing photos/files/links/text from other apps; Android text sharing only. Desktop notifications take priority when Grok Bot desktop is running; approvals expire in about 10 minutes. (author_report)

Worth knowing

This is series article 1-10; prior setup from lessons 1-5 through 1-9 (including safety guardrails and approval rules) is assumed. This site has not tested mobile functionality; reproduction status is not_tested. Source does not specify pricing details beyond matching desktop plan requirements. Recording tutorials, editing routine schedules/content, testing routines, and some advanced settings require returning to desktop. Android sharing is currently more limited than iPhone.

Steps

  1. Install and log in to the mobile app

Download Grok Bot from the App Store (iOS 18+) or Google Play (Android 9+). Open the app and tap Log In or Sign Up, complete Cursor login in the browser, then return to the app. If you subscribed via SuperGrok, tap Link Grok Account, then Finished Linking? Refresh My Status. Users who already use the desktop version will see their existing Bot list after login.

  2. Verify device sync

On desktop, open Settings → Computer → Manage Devices and confirm your phone appears in the list. The mobile app shares the same Bots, conversations, routines, connections, and cloud computer with the desktop. Closing the mobile app does not stop the Bot from working in the cloud.

  3. Assign tasks and interact on mobile

Open the app to see your Bot list, then enter any Bot to view the synced conversation. You can: type or tap the microphone for voice input; tap the wave button to voice-chat with the Bot; send photos, images, or files; @ a Bot or @everyone in group chats; reply to messages, add reactions, or play voice messages from the Bot. Drafts auto-save.

  4. Share content to the Bot from other apps (iPhone)

In Photos, Files, or a browser, tap Share, select Grok Bot from the share sheet (swipe right or tap More to add it if needed), choose a conversation, tap Attach, then add your instruction and send. Android currently supports sharing text only; images and files must be added inside the Grok Bot app via the + button.

  5. Review routines and approvals

Tap the Bot name at the top of a conversation to open its profile, then view Scheduled Tasks: see times, run history, pause, resume, or delete routines. Editing schedule/content or testing routines requires returning to desktop. With notifications on, your phone alerts you when the Bot has results, issues, or needs approval. Important: if Grok Bot desktop is running, notifications go to the computer instead; quit the desktop app before leaving if you want mobile alerts. Routine-initiated approvals expire in about 10 minutes if unattended.

  6. Settings and notes

Tap your avatar on the home screen to open Settings: Auto-review and custom rules (see 1-9) can be viewed and edited here. With Auto timezone enabled, the Bot’s cloud computer follows your phone’s timezone—check routine run times after traveling. Mobile language options are fewer than desktop; selecting System follows the phone language.
