- Who
- People who want to manage life and work delegations from mobile and let AI handle logins or complex web operations
- You get
- Single chat interface with continuous context, less repeated briefing; complex tasks auto-routed to local Codex
- You need
- dots · Codex · GitHub · Slack · Email · Google Docs · Figma
Constraints
Requires a ChatGPT account (dots is currently free), Codex CLI/desktop installed on a laptop, and account access for each connected service. Passwords are entered by the user in the respective secure credential flows, never in chat.
What they did
As a heavy mobile user, the author sends voice memos, screenshots, random ideas, work problems, and life admin to dots from their phone. Dots maintains continuous context in a single chat interface and processes tasks in parallel using connected apps. When encountering complex web operations requiring login or blocked by IP restrictions, dots automatically forwards tasks to Codex running on the author's laptop, pre-loading task context. The author also continuously inputs custom instructions and feedback via voice to make dots more personalized.
How it went
The author reports finding a good vertical personal agents setup with minimal context-switching, allowing them to delegate everything from their phone on the go (author_report). Dots is currently free to use, which also saves on Codex usage costs.
Worth knowing
Passwords must be entered by the user in each service's login page; never send passwords to AI via chat or voice. Codex is especially helpful for accessing social platforms like X, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Telegram via computer use, as these apps contain significant life/work context. Dots's datacenter IP may be blocked by some sites (e.g., Amazon), making local Codex routing a necessary workaround. This workflow has not been tested by our team.
Steps
Enable dots and connect common services
Enable dots in ChatGPT. Go to connections settings and authorize services as needed: GitHub (for proactively raising and reviewing bugs), Slack (product and bug context, with team member tagging), Email (life context, especially travel management), Docs/Figma (monitor, create wireframes, and review designs; receive design PDFs). Enter passwords only in each service's OAuth or secure credential page, never via chat.
Configure Codex as a local tool
Install and run Codex CLI/desktop on your laptop, keeping it online. Add Codex as a tool in dots settings. Purpose: when dots encounters sites requiring authentication (e.g., X, Telegram) or websites blocking datacenter IPs (e.g., Amazon), it automatically forwards requests to your local Codex. Typical scenarios include: filling visa applications, making pitch decks, wireframing feature specs. Dots pre-loads task context before Codex executes.
Customize instructions via voice and feedback
Continuously send voice memos to dots describing how you want it to behave, plus your worldviews, preferences, and habits. Give as much feedback as possible on dots's responses. For example: tell dots to auto-identify bugs from all channels and provide likely cause + possible fix, very concisely. Dots uses ChatGPT history memory plus these custom instructions to recall personalized context when relevant.
