Constraints

Create a monitoring task in OpenAI Dots with the target product and store URL; keep Dots running to track stock changes in real time; confirm the purchase when restocked. Requires a valid Apple ID and payment method, and Dots needs web-browsing or store-integration capabilities.

What they did

User farhanasync needed to upgrade from an iPhone 13 but could not find an iPhone 18 Max in stock anywhere in NYC, so they used OpenAI Dots to keep checking the Apple website for availability.

How it went

Dots booked the iPhone within 5 minutes of restock; the entire stock was gone again in about 10 minutes. This outcome is an author report and has not been verified by our team.

Worth knowing

The source does not specify whether Dots completed payment automatically, whether Apple ID pre-authorization was required, or what retry logic exists. Apple Store availability and checkout flow vary by region. For high-demand drops, ensure your payment method is ready before the restock.

Steps

  1. Create monitoring task

Tell Dots what to watch: open Dots, describe the model you want (e.g., iPhone 18 Max), provide the target store URL (e.g., Apple Store), and ask it to alert you immediately when the item is available.

  2. Confirm the order

When Dots sends a restock alert, authorize it to proceed with checkout, or follow its guidance to confirm the order manually or automatically.
